2nd Coming of Jesus Christ – Part 81

2nd Coming of Jesus Christ In part 80 of the Christian teaching series; It’s Time To Believe we introduced a new promise of God – The 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ.

We listed several scriptures from The Holy Bible regarding this promise and said; it’s not enough to “Know” these scriptures, we must also “Believe” these scriptures.

We also said; sometimes we don’t even know what we don’t believe.  And you can’t believe what you don’t know.  And we can really determine what we believe based on our actions, not just our confessions.

When a true “Believer” in Jesus Christ, really believes in the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, or what many Christians call the rapture, our actions prove it.

There Are 3 Types of Believing:

1.  Believing Based on “Knowledge”

Hosea 4:6

King James Version (KJV)

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

2.  Believing Based on “Seeing”

John 20:11-29

King James Version (KJV)

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

3. Believing Based on Faith

Mark 11:22-24

King James Version (KJV)

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

When it comes to believing in the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, many Christians (and even some sinners) believe based on “head knowledge” alone.  For example; we often say as Christians: “that is what the Bible said and I believe it, and that is good enough for me”.  And that is fine.

However, believing on just head knowledge alone or seeing, very seldom produces the works part of faith found in James chapter 2.

In order to believe the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, that will “cause” us to work and build our “arks of safety or salvation”, for not just ourselves, but for our fellow-man, we must believe based on Faith – because real/live faith has works accompanied with it.

Hebrews 11:7

King James Version (KJV)

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

If we were really believing “Based On Faith” in the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, more of us would be building and completing our “arks of safety” in record time.

If we really believed Jesus was coming back any minute now, and the people we say we love (our family and friends) that are non-believers; we would desperately be trying to urge them to give their lives to the Lord, before it is too late and they end up in a burning hell of eternity.

Let’s ask ourselves; How many people do we have in our ark of safety?  Are you the only one in your ark?  Are you even building your ark?

What we truly believe,  we act on.  And what you don’t believe, we don’t act on.

Love is an action not a belief.  And if we “Christians” truly believe in the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ and the consequences that His return has for the unbeliever, our actions will follow, if we truly love like God.

There is more that I would like to share with you and teach on, regarding truly believing in the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ.  So please, come back and join us, as we continue teaching on this awesome and incredible promise of God.

Jesus is Coming Soon,

Pastor David,
